Karl,
It is a joy to view these photo's and read so many of the blogs and view the other links. Any sane, intelligent person knows from previous wars that there is always the heatwarming human side to war, as these pictures clearly show. The commentaries of Iraqi's themselves also validates the role our military play in fighting to secure freedom for these long term suppressed and abused people. It is with pride that our military personnel (Australians) fight alongside the American and British forces to achieve this lofty aim. Keep up the good work in showing the world the other side to war, and also showing the compassionate hearts of our military.
Hugs

American military, trained to kill an enemy, obviously remember a far greater training, of loving one another. Every American citizen should be aware of the compassion felt and shown for the Iraqi people by our military. Can there be any more noble act than befriending the children? I don't think so and I am proud of our men and women. God bless all of them.

I'm proud to say that i served in Iraq. It's good to see pictures like these because not many people know what it is really like over there. It is pictures like these ones that bring a tear to my eye and remind me that what i did over there was for the right reasons.
Best wishes to all of my fellow soldiers still serving there and heading over soon. Keep up the great work, our prayers are with you.

Thank you so much for the pictures and wonderful links on your site!! They have brought much comfort to me. My brother has been deployed since June and January can not come soon enought. Its hard for me to understand or imagine what it is like in Iraq, but your pictures helped me. They also filled me with such pride. My prayers and thoughts are with all the soldiers, those fighting overseas and those training here, to return safely and quickly to their families. What courageous and amazing men and women. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

I enjoyed your photo album very much. My son is serving in Iraq now, and seeing the faces of the children help me see that we are doing what we can. There is hope on their faces. This period of change and war in Iraq must be done, and when it is all over let's hope the people of Iraq rise up and embrace freedom! Thank you for your pictures!

THANK YOU! Every American service man and woman in Iraq and Afganistan serves with honour. Every day they show the world that Honour, Duty and Bravery are not just words in a dictionary. Every day they sholder the burden and do what must be done and we are proud of them. Like a shining beacon America and her soldiers show the way to the rest of us.

This honestly brought tears to my eyes. I know that there is so much going on over sea's and, theres plenty that I dont know about, and am in the dark about....But seeing these photo's brought some comfort. It helped ease the pain, that many of us feel for all those involved in the war. I wont say that I agree, or disagree with the current issues at hand, but I know what has to be done, is being done. Thank you to those who took the time to make this website, I hope it impacts everyone else, as strongly as it did me. GOD BLESS ~ VOTE BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As many have said in the comments above and below, it’s a shame the news media does not show the good side of war, but only the bad. Do as I have done and pass this along to your local newspapers, they are more likely to comment on it than the news stations.
I support our Commander-In-Chief, President Bush, I support our country, but most of all; I support ALL of our troops; the men and women of yesterday and today. For the ones who have given their lives for all of us, for the ones still fighting for our freedom and the freedom of others. You are truly my HEROES.
God Bless You!!

I just wanted to commend you on the excellent collection of photos on this gallery: I really appreciate the way it puts soldiers in a positive light after all that has been done to tarnish their honor in the media. However, I don't so much appreciate the comments made in the posts above labeling democrats as ignorant. As an active duty soldier and a democrat myself, I believe that politics (although it dictates ultimately what we do on the battlefield) should be kept apart from the support of our troops. Politicians so far removed from combat zones have little personal understanding of the sacrifices made by the soldiers in those combat zones. I only wish they could take a step back and think about that before committing to military actions that could cost many soldiers and innocent civilians their lives.

It's heartwarming to see the Iraqi people wanting us there and I wish more of the news media could get these pictures so that the whole world can see what we are doing over there is what they want. I think Igor(Iwantdapassword@hotmail.com) said it right when his views are "pessimistic". I dont understand why people have to look a the pessimism when so much good is being done. Why must there be so much speculation? Why must there be so much question about the oil fields or UN resolutions? I, and I doubt most of these pessimists, are not war strategists. They have no bounds to speculate what our military's actions were justified for. Look at these children, look at their faces. They have probably never even seen a pack of crayons before. These children lived in fear, and their families for so many years. I dont care what we went in there primarily for. What we have done for them is give them hope. It is not perfect, but it more than they would ever have had under Saddam. Why must we be pessimistic? People of this country have so much that they dont understand what people who have nothing would go through , just to have something. If someone gives to a charity, do you tell them it wasnt enough because they have more money in their pocket? Is none better than some? I just dont get it. Pessimism gets you nowhere, optimism moves you through the darkness. Thank you for these pictures, they are beautiful and i am sending them to everyone.

Posted on Mr. Dowding's page
Dear Mr. Dowding,
Hello, I am working in Iraq supporting our military and the Iraqi people. We are confined to a base so i do not get to travel and talk with the people of Iraq, but we do have locals come to the base and work. I have met young and old Iraqi's and the attitude of these people i have met is one of hope and fear. I want to convey two short story's about the men i have met. The first is a man 44 yrs. old college graduate trying to support his family by working as an interpreter. This man has dreams of making a better life for his children and hopefully his grandchildren. This man told story's of Fear and Abuse of himself and family by saddam and his supporters. The constant fear that if he mis-spoke and said something to someone they didn't like he could lose his life. I observed this man intensely watch a plane land one day and i asked him why did he watch the plane and with a saddess and hope in his eyes he said just one day,one day he prayed he would get to fly in a plane across the border and make a New Life for his family. He had never been in a plane. He never dreamed in his life he could possibly have that chance and now he believed he might. I pray he does get that chance.
The other story is about 3 young men working and the HOPE they had in a New Beginning and the Pride of believing their families would have a better life now than when they were under saddam's control. One young man in particular was a new Father he had just had a son and the Pride in his eyes when he showed me a picture of his son was undescribable. He had not seen his Father , mother and brother since he was 9 years old his family had to flee Iraq when his Father and Mother got out of saddam's jail (because his Father was part of the resistence against saddam) and his family fled, unable to take him with them when they fled to germany from Iraq. He lived with his aunt and survived by begging and going to work at 10 years old. To think this WAR was not worth the price to give these people HOPE for a better life and a chance at FREEDOM to me is unHUMAN. To believe the u.n. would have followed through with their so-called plan at a peaceful solution is naive. The u.n. is a corrupt political bureaucracy that is beyond repair and is useless in the protection of people who can't protect there self. I felt like you needed to hear from another side.
Thanks for the forum.
Best Regards, Len

I am not questioning for a second the commitment, dedication, and kindness exhibited in these photo of the men and women of the America army. I do question however the motivations for liberating, or some may say invading, this country of Iraq. Perhaps are memories are foggy. I remember a United Nations (an organizations formed after world war two by the allies to keep world peace, and incidentally one that Bush senior honored in the first Iraq war) trying to negotiate a peaceful settlement. One that had U.N weapons inspectors warning a country to give up their weapons of mass destruction or face invasion. And as Iraq handed over what little they had left in weapons, sold to them by the Reagan administration 34 or so years earlier when they were our allies against Iran were invaded/liberated anyway. I am not saying that I am a fan of Sudam . He is one of too may brutal dictators that have we have encountered, but what was the true motivation for this insurgence was it a humanitarian gesture? Is that why the ports and then the oil fields were secured first? These soldiers are to be commended for following orders and representing the U.S to the best of their ability but why are they there?

I have been sent a few pictures in the past few months from the war zone - this gallery is incredible. Sad, though war is, most of the US does not have a clue as to the good that is being done in Iraq. It makes my heart swell to know that we have such a group of dedicated men and women in our military and a God fearing President at the helm. God bless America and know that all our military is remembered in my prayers daily. I have a cousin in Iraq on his second tour. God Bless all of you!!!

Yes, these soldiers are sincerely trying to help the population, as we can clearly see on these pictures, and which is heart-warming. Does it still mean that invading Iraq was the right thing to do, with all those acts of horror and death brought to the people on these pictures, Iraqi civilians as well as the soldiers who are doing their job? Personally and despite the good intentions, I don't think so.
I hope this post will not be removed as a "dissenting" post, as my intention is not to offend you, but to give you my sincere and alas pessimist opinion.

These pictures are awesome!!! No one wants war, EVER ; well perhaps the terrorists, but aside from that ball of slime, people want freedom and peace and some happy! I am sick to my stomach that some Amercians have such narrow eye sight that they cannot see or plainly understand that what are soldiers are doing is good. Yes some of them will die,but NOT IN VAIN. Look at these pictures and see the difference they are making to countless women and children (and men) that were once soooooo disgustingly oppressed by Sadam and are still fighting other evil terrorists. I am proud of the differences large and small that our soldiers are making in IRAQ!! GOD BLESS America, the world and our troops in Iraq and abroad who are helping to make the world a better place.

How can we get these positive wonderful images to the mainstream media?
This is just more proof that the media does not want the world to see
anything positive coming out of Iraq. It is shameful.
These photos speak for themselves. We already knew our soldiers
are representative of the soldiers and Marines in these pics, and not the ones
the media plastered all over the news months ago, from that prison.
They are wonderful men and women serving in iniform and they deserve
a Commander in Chief who loves and respects them. Re-Elect President Bush.

These pictures are so moving, I realized that there were tears running down my cheeks as I stared at the screen. These pictures bring such a mix of emotions; pride in our men and women serving with such honor, and anger with the main stream media and those who claim to be the compassionate ones(liberals),who refuse to see and acknowledge the good we are doing for so many.(50 million)America is a liberating nation, not an oppressive one. Last time I checked the nazis we are compared to did not help build hospitals and schools, but places by the name of Auschwitz...

surprising pictures, show me the >other side< i missed here in the germany-news since the war started, cause 99,9% of these news/comments had been/are filled with bad news, cause lots dont WANT to hear+see positive pictures...
Sure, if i would show this pics to peoples here, lots of them will say, that this is : >only war-propaganda<, >made in hollywood<, >payed actor-kids< etc....
the massive Anti-war-opinion produced a blindness even for positive effects like to see here, cause :
>Saddam was a dictator, but if u start a war against him= u are >burned< in the mainstream-doctrine and most medias, cause war is CONSTANTLY bad, without exception<.
abstruse, but thats the result of pacifism in its extreme ripeness...
Thank You

I already supposed it in the last 1 1/2 years that there must be a "good side". the medias filled with ONLY bloody/terroristic/caotic films and pictures from this country. And a car-bomb allways seems to be more important for reporting here then the rebuild of a water-suply-pipeline or other positive doings.

What a miracle in the making! I am so proud of all of you, I could burst. Keep up the outstanding work and I will keep up the work here in the good old USA of spreading the good news. Lord knows, the media doesn't. May God Bless you and we will previal. Because of you, those children's futures are brighter. ((HUGS))

Beautiful photos, but much to personal, upbeat, happy and positive for the mainstream media. I want the troops in the Middle East to know that there are many many US Citizens who are proud of what you're doing. We may not have or take the opportunity to tell you so, but we are proud of you all. Please keep these lovely photos coming. Stay safe. And many prayers are being sent heavenward for your protection. +Pace e Bene+ God bless you all.

Dear Karl,
A friend told me about your Iraq photo gallery and it's incredible. I'd like to show some of the photos on my show on Fox News Channel, to help viewers see the positive things in Iraq that the news media aren't telling them about. May I have your permission? I would like to give you credit on the air -- If you're interested, please send me an email. Thanks. - Linda Vester

This is great! These pictures tell a story we all need to see in the US. The story the news media tells leaves out what's really happening over there. I am proud of our soldiers and know they are making a difference in the world and spreading freedom to many.
